That's an interesting question and one that is somewhat difficult to answer. On the face of it, taking classes online, or at Emory during my lunch hour would seem to take the least amount of time away from my family. However, in some cases the trade off may be that by taking courses online now, I may end up in a career that keeps me from home more than if I were to choose something that took a little more time now, but would put me in a career that gave me the freedom to spend more time at home.

My family is definitely the most important consideration in this process. Perhaps the biggest challenge is weighing what's in our best interest short-term vs. long-term. Often those two things seem diametrically opposed to each other.

An aspect that I think needs to be considered that you did not mention; which of these options would give the most time with your wonderful family?

I have had a few job offers with more pay, but they required a lot of travel, and that I work from an office across town. The office across town option takes 2-3 hours out of my day that now I get to spend with family. Not to mention gas prices, and having to eat lunch away from home can get expensive.

I love working from home and it would take a HUGE bump in pay to make want to give it up.
