Christ in Christmas

Posted on December 7, 2005December 7, 2005 by marcus

I passed one of those church marquees today on my way to work, it read “Keep Christ in Christmas.” Several miles later I approached a Rail Road crossing sign and thought of something mildly profound. The majority of Christendom recognizes the cross as the symbol of Christ. The letter X is sometimes used as a shorthand for the word cross, as in RR X-ing. In essence X is the symbol for the word cross. The cross is the symbol of Christ. When people write X-mas, they are keeping Christ in Christmas, if only symbolically.

Jackie hates when I say or write X-Mas. Almost as much as when I say “congrats” now if you can come up with a profound defense for that then you are my hero! btw, loving the blog. 🙂
