Coincidences

Posted on March 18, 2006January 5, 2007 by marcus

Last week Laura and I went for our first prenatal doctor’s exam. The one were you actually meet the doctor (or midwife in our case) who will be helping manage the pregnancy. It was relatively uneventful as such things go, with L’s mom being a midwife herself, there wasn’t any new information presented. After the appointment, we had lunch at a Chinese restaurant. The meal wasn’t anything spectacular, but when we got our fortune cookies, Laura’s had one of the most accurate fortunes I have ever seen, it read:

Children’s laughter, so beautiful to hear,
soon will be a chance to have them very near.

We were amazed that this said what it did considering where we had just been. I know that this is probably just a coincidence. When examined rationally, the possible interpretations are innumerable. While it is certainly nothing more than a coincidence, its things like this that keep the idea of an unseen force shaping destinies alive,
